Has someone use Xolair (Omalizumab)?

June 12, 2016 by Forum Member

I want to know if someone has used Xolair for cholinergic urticaria (also called Omalizumab)?

Is it really helpful? What are the disadvantages?

Thanks,

But what is it really going to cure cholinergic Urticaria because if the side effects are like the sintoms of CU, I rather use Xolair. CU is ruining my life so badly.

I am so glad you have asked that question. My friend who is a consultant here has told me to discuss that with my daughter’s hospital at her next visit as she is so miserable with her CU. currently trying LED treatment and I do think there is some improvement

    Hi,

I used xolair for 4 months, it really did work. I stopped because my husband and I relocated and got different ins. We moved to a much drier climate and I’ve really seen great results!!?

There are a few down sides.

    1. Cost, takes quite a while to get ins to approve it, because you’d be using it off label.

    2. The possibility of allergic reaction. I wasn’t allergic to it, but I found it to be very strong stuff, usually took me off my feet for a few hrs after each injection.

      I would like to know:
      1. How much time it took you to definitely not feel any symptons?

      2. After what number of shots you started feeling differently?

      3. How long the insurance took to approve the medication?

      4. If you woldn’t relocate, would you still using the medication even though you don’t feel any symptons?

      5. Has it come back in a low intensity, or definitely gone?

      6. Did you do any test first before started the treatment?

      7. Which one you use Omalizumab 150mg, or Omalizumab 300mg?

      8. Any other symptons? headaches, dizziness, hair loss, any kind of pain?

My son got 2 of the shots, and they didn’t seem to do him any good. He could tell little, if any difference. He had more luck with going off of sugar.

How is it with the sugar elimination?
How long does it take to see result?

I am currently on Xolair. I get 2 injections every 4 weeks. I’ve been on it for 9 months. I’ve noticed a small improvement. Took the itch away. I still will break out in red spots all over when I get really hot or exercise. It does make me very tired after I get the injections. Usually knocks me off my feet for a day or 2. Hoping to see more improvement.

    Hi anonymous

I’ve used Xolair twice for 2months in the beginning of my hives which I’ve had for 4months now. It didn’t work cause I still had to take prednisones which are not good for kidneys and the liver apparently.

But now I’m going on 2weeks itch free and no lips or eyes swelling since I’ve been taking the pill called Rupanese. I suggest you try that cause it doesn’t need prescription like prednisone which I wasted my money on doctors for.

Do you mean rupanex (rupatadine)? I looked rupanese, and it is not a medication, but took me to those medications l inquired earlier about. If you do mean rupanex, yes, it is used to treat hives, but it is available only through a prescription.

Could it be a possibility that it takes time to see improvement? Did the insurance cover you that?

I’m 33 yr old female who had chronic hives for about 5months now.I’m not sure if xolair is the way? Right now I take zrytec,pepcid-am claratin-lunch hr and singular, pepcid with a predisone at night. Still I’m breaking out :/
I work out 3-5days a week and eat a pretty well balanced daily meal. I’m so lost for words on why it started (hives) and I wish it would stop already. I do the best that I can by ignoring it but when I see it, I get really bummed about it.
I believe in prayers and keeping hope that it will all be a memory. To all the suffers like me keep your head up and your faith strong. It all has to get better Right?
