Almost 2 years ago, I had a partial hysterectomy. After returning to work (where I frequently go to either extreme temperature), I noticed my hands and forearms would break out in hives. The dermatologist diagnosed me with cold induced urticaria, and I currently take antihistamines and Ranitidine, which mainly controls everything.
This past winter they had to go back and do a complete hysterectomy with some other removals. Wisconsin turned sunny and warm this year, so instead of being mostly hive free for a while, I now find my self breaking out. If I’m in the sun without sunscreen, or if get too hot (even if showers are too warm), I get hives.
They are still mostly confined to my hands and forearms, but they are sometimes now on my lower legs and feet. I guess I am wondering if anyone else saw this condition start after surgery of some sort? My doctors say no, but it seems too much of a coincidence.
Thanks,
-Ann
