I have had hives for about 6 months now that come and go. I have been diagnosed with systemic mastocytosis, and this is a symptom of this condition, along with other symptoms including anaphylaxis.
I am using antihistamines to manage it, as well as trying to stick to a low histamine diet. You can google info on low histamine diets and also get a list of low histamine foods on the Mastocytosis Canada website.
Thanks,
Heather

Hello Heather,
I was also diagnosed with the same diagnosis as you. For 8 months I was in full blown hives and after that it went away for two months or so. I was taking Zyrtec, ranitidine, and hydroxozene(sp).
My allergist also wanted to lower my immune system because he said my immune system was overactive. When the hives returned, they were more like a rash all over my hands first. After going into the 3rd month of my second bout with this, I went to my family doctor. She told me that it was a chemical reaction one to find I must find out from where. As ashamed as I am to say this, the verdict was my hair dye. Just For Men beard dye to be exact. I have been hives free for about a year now. Also, I’ve filed litigation against just for men.
I’m saying this because it was right under my nose. Check everything, document everything, you just never know, because I didn’t even think about it. My allergist had no clue. He just banked off me and wrote me at least 6 different scripts. With faith I pray that I’m done with it, and my prayers out to you.

Thank you for sharing, Darnell! Good to know for those of us who use hair dyes (so many of us do!)…
