I break out in hives on my chest, neck and sometimes face/back. It happens whenever I am nervous, sweaty and often when I get out of the shower.
I am taking atenolol (as prescribed by my doctor) and it hasn’t seemed to help much. I will start feeling itchy and then soon later the areas I mentioned are all red and often there is hives. I feel such a bad pain but there is nothing to make it stop until it goes away anywhere from 2-10 minutes later.
I am wondering what medication people have taken to stop cholinergic urticaria.
Thanks,
Drew

Every time I’ve been doctors know next to nothing about this and offer all the standard anti histamine medication, sweat therapy will work better tbh although some lucky people react very well to the medication

Sometimes Urticaria related to food allergy . I have CU for 50 years and I was diagnosed with eggs allergy few months ago . I stop consume eggs and CU subsides … I am back to gym !!!

Read the book, watch the video on youtube and focus on getting to the basic cause of your CU which is related to what you put in your mouth 95% of the time as Natasha wisely suggests. Let your suffering remind you to take steps to investigate the food and try other techniques, but remember to accept it as impermanent and brief. CU reminds us we are alive and it passes quickly. Compare that to a kidney stone or cancer! We are LUCKY to have a problem that passes relatively quickly. If you let yourself worry you are dying or view the condition in a negative way it will make you suffer and it will be much worse. Taking drugs to solve the problem in my case did not solve the problem and just masked the symptoms…very poorly at that. On the other hand meditation can help find insight and an end to your mental suffering and can help your health, normalize your stress hormone levels and make you happier and less hivish. Investigate! You will be fine.
