In addition to cholinergic urticaria, I also suffer from aquagenic urticaria, which is incredibly rare. I am also male (aquagenic urticaria is more common in females). Purely from a point of interest, I wanted to know how common cholinergic urticaria is, so that I may calculate how unique my situation is. If anyone has this information, preferably as ‘one in x number of people have it’, I would greatly appreciate it!

The only person that I met who had CU was an allergist that I saw last month. He told me that he had CU for 6 months. He said that it suddenly came and it suddenly went away. I got really happy when he said that he had CU because I finally met someone who knew what I was going through. He even assured me that I am not the the only one, and that several others who suffer from CU came to see him. He told me that they don’t know how to cure CU because they don’t know how does it develop in the first place. He ended up telling me to take antihistamine pills which didn’t help at all. I will see him again next Monday and see what will happen.

Yes, I have both. And, I have Lupus SLE and Fibromyalgia. My doctor prescribed Zyrtec four times a day. Nothing worked. I scratch one spot and it spreads all over. I take a shower and I can’t be in there no more than 2-5 minutes. I hope there is something out there that can stop this itching.
