Hello guys and gals!
I am 16 year old male, and will for vacation flee to a country as hot as hades. I have good reason to believe I’ve got Cholinergic Urticaria. It triggers ONLY when I’m heated, when it hits, it’s like having two dozen small, but painful nails in my chest. It is irritating and it’s causing me not to exercise as well as staying more inside than outside. Very small red hives seem to appear when touched, or when my body’s warm.
I am currently on antihistamines (which my doctor prescribed to me), and it actually seems to be decreasing the pain (as I mentioned, but it’s not as hurtful as before the antihistamines).
Do you guys and gals, have any tips or advice at all? I very much appreciate this website, great work “Hivesguy”.
P.S. English is my third language, maybe there’s a few grammatical mistakes, so sorry in advance.

I carry Sarna skin lotion with me always. It seems to stop the itch (I apply it the first sign ) )and then it does not go into a full blown pins and skin reaction. Not a cure by any means, but seems to help me keep it at bey. Good Luck!!

Thank you for your support, much appreciated!
First, applying lotion is a little awkward in public, because the rash lasts only for a few minutes, and by the time you find someplace to apply the lotion, the attack has occured and you’re probably in excessive pain.
The rash/itching is mainly on my upper chest and neck, so it would be difficult in public, in my case.
I’ve had this a few months, and I found out what it was a few weeks ago. UC is indeed a nightmare having, and it sure is devestating in the summer time (however, where I live it isn’t as hot as other countries).
In my case, when the rash/itching starts, It attacks for a minute or so, then it disappears, but only if I cool myself down.
When an attack occurs, (especially in public) I can’t do anything besides cooling myself down (by of course, moving to someplace cooler – shadows).
Nevertheless, I thank you for your advice, and I wish you the best of luck!

Surprisingly being in a hot country is to your advantage when it comes to this heat hive. My only “cure” is to beat out the hives itself and try to force my body to sweat everyday through some form of physical activity. Your body will thank you and so will your skin. Good luck and have fun!

In regards to the sarna lotion, with practice you can be discrete in public. It may be worth a try. Spay water bottles may help also in cooling you down. I also use a frozen water bottle applied to pressure points (wrist, neck. ect.) I use this method when I know I will be giving off body heat when exercising for example. and trying to guess before hand) I am at a point where being discrete is not n issue. Been dealing with this for 20 years,

Well I’m from Saudi Arabia one of the hottest countries in the world but I go to school in Michigan. Believe it or not my CU is weaker when I am in Saudi. I believe it is because it’s too hot so the process finishes pretty fast and it takes less time to sweat when I’m there unlike Michigan. The only treatment that was useful for me was the sauna.

Hopefully the same thing will happen to me, thanks for sharing your experience.
Best of luck!

I carry a spray bottle with one of those little fans attached and spray myself down, or carry an icepack around my neck to help lower my body temp. maybe those can help?
