I’ve had cholinergic urticaria for 8 months now and I am finally making a breakthrough. I live in Alberta where it is cold and snowy 7 or 8 months a year. Today it was 31 degrees Celsius, and I was scared to death to go to school and work with the fear of breaking out in a itchy rash.
However, to my surprise my body started sweating, and I didn’t feel itchy. It felt wonderful to sweat again. I had forgotten what it felt like to be normal for once.
It is supposed to be 25+ degrees for the next week so I will post an update at the end of the week saying if my symptoms came back or not.
Thanks,
-Alex

Great, Alex! What brought about this wonderful turn of events?

I’m not sure. I got to school & realized that I hadn’t itched yet so I tested it outside & I was sweating normally. Maybe a seasonal switch clicked for me.

Interesting that it may be the change of seasons. I remember when I was in my twenties and thirties I would get the hives in summer or winter. For many years now though there is usually not much in the summer. Nothing yesterday, for example.

I live in Canada too, in Vancouver. I dont take any medicine april till september so glad summer is here. In Winters I need to take Desloratadine which goes by the name of Aerius, I buy the generic at walmart. It works awesome in Winters I dont itch at all.

Thank you. If my symptoms come back I will make sure to get some.

I’m so glad I found this forum, I’ve been dealing with these symptoms for about 3-4 months now. My symptoms the first month or so were random, so it was hard to pinpoint what was going on, but now just about every time I workout I break out badly. Also I work in a high rise on lake Michigan (Chicago resident), and when my building gets hot I will start getting itchy, and immediately get to the center of the building and put cold water on my neck and elbow joint to cool down. I’m a huge golfer(hints my blog name), and I was really worried that golfing in the summer would be miserable/near impossible with this problem, but to my surprise, I’m not affected when I’m in the heat. Only when there is a rise in body temperature does this affect me. My guess is since my symptoms started over winter/spring, that this will be the time that I’m affected the most (when there is a lot of temperature changes). Does anybody else feel this way? That when temperature stays constant, symptoms are low? Also, I wondered if anybody was like myself growing up, I never really sweat much as a kid, unless I was doing a lot of activity, but even then I was never covered in sweat like others.

I never sweated much as a kid either. I played basketball throughout middle school & until my senior year in high school & I was never drenched in sweat after a game. I’m also a golf enthusiast. I’m going tomorrow (: in the last few days with the random heat in Alberta my symptoms have stayed away. I did my first workout yesterday in the last 8 months & damn did it ever feel good.
