I’ve beaten Cholinergic Urticaria (Cam)

July 26, 2016 by Forum Member

Hi everyone,

I have some really great news, I have (as I feel at the moment) beaten Cholinergic Urticaria. I’m sweating like I used to and I don’t have a single breakout anymore! If I do have one, it’s for like 4 seconds then I’m sweating 🙂 I recently became a bag sacker at a local grocery store, and I’ve been out in the hot sun and I’ve been sweating like no tomorrow. It’s not just in one area, it’s everywhere.

I don’t have any sensations anymore and I feel like I’ve been reborn, people! Now my question is it going to come back when the weather gets colder? My room is pretty cold and it’s been raining here as well and I don’t break out in the rain either, I’m just wondering if it’s going to come back in the winter.
Keep trying everyone, I promise there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

Thanks,

Cameron

If it does come back you should try a sauna in the winter time to sweat everything out.

I really haven’t changed my diet all that much, All I know is that since i’ve been drinking water & Gatorade (For work) It helps me alot and It helps me sweat more and more, usually after a good hour of working, my shirt is completely soaked

Hi Cameron. My son has had it the last 4yrs, winter is torture, come let Spring and it’s gone. This year he tried something different. He had been working out through summer almost every day, tried to keep his skin moisturised. Towards end of summer he kept going but instead worked out as soon as he woke up to force him to sweat earlier on as his body temp was already warm. Worked for most of it except the really cold days however it was bearable. He also takes Periactin which a specialist recommended. It takes the edge away which helps him push through it when he excercises. Maybe talk to your Dr to see if that can be an option for you, not to say it will work but it’s worth the try, my son tried everything else and nothing worked except this plus excercise. And because it’s not so severe anymore his anxiety has lessened and so has his depression & the families peace of mind.

For me, I think I have the mild version of Cholinergic Urticaria. I know i’ve had hives before but that was because I wasn’t properly exercising. I noticed as soon as I started pushing my body to the limit and actually going outside for a change, my hives were slim to none at all. As for your son, I’m glad he’s doing better, I’ve had my share experience with anxiety & depression and I also feel like that those two combined may have made my condition worse but where I live, it gets extremely warm during the summer so I can be able to sweat a lot more faster and I can always take a hot shower and sit infront of the heater before I leave to go somewhere in the mornings during the winter

I approached my doctor with this many years ago. I was informed, that my histamine blocker was not working. Never found out why or what I could do for it. I just know it’s terrible and lowers my self esteem. I panic around people, because I never know when it will spark up. I try to stay cool and dry all the time.

The way I “beat Cholinergic Urticaria” is that I started exercising more and more and drinking more water. I noticed that I was apparently dehydrated and once I started drinking water more and more, I started to sweat more easier. Sweat therapy is basically the best option other than anti-histamines that work for some and don’t work for others. Talk to your doctor/dermatologist about sweat therapy because you may not be able to do it but keep trying and I really hope it goes away for you!
