Moving to Hotter country with cholinergic urticaria?

February 15, 2016 by Forum Member

Hello everyone,

I wanted to get some advice. Would moving to hotter country like India make it worse for my Cholinergic Urticaria condition or not? I am in Canada right now, and its mostly cold weather. My hives are not as severe in winters as in summers, and for most part I don’t have to take any anti-allergy.

But for lot of reasons I am planning to move to India, so I am really worried about the condition getting worse. I was reading one post and someone said going to hotter country actually lowered the intensity of cholinergic urticaria!

I have heat induced cholinergic urticaria. I get bad stinging hives within minutes to hot temperature and red rash almost all over my body.

Please advise,

-S

I lived in Thailand for a year and the hives were usually quiescent as they are for me here in Florida in the summer. There are plenty of other serious illnesses you can pick up in Asia though. Hives are transient and a minor nuisance compared to malaria, filariasis, etc. Best of luck in your travels.

My husband and I recently moved from NH to AZ. I have chronic Cholinergetic Urticaria, the humidity during the Summers in NH made in unbearable!!! But…the drier air in AZ has made a huge difference!!! I truly feel better and the hives, although still present, are a lot less!!!

    Hi,
I also heard the same thing I went to Thailand for a holiday and the humidity really helped my skin. The cholinergic urticaria pretty much went away and I was able to run around and sweat without itching at all.

I have wondered about his too, as my son only gets urticaria in the winter when getting hot. But in the hot summer, he gets none. Very strange and complicated disorder.

Thanks guys for such a quick reply. Ya I have heard that with high humidity during summers, CU is not that bad. Here in Canada air is lot dry but I am worried about high temperature like 45 degree in India if I move !
