Nightshades and Cholinergic Urticaria

February 19, 2018 by Forum Member

Hi, there was an article on here recently that spoke about nightshades. I wanted to ask if this actually works and if this can be the reason for some people.

I consumed a lot of potatoes with peppers and pizza, which contains tomato sauce.

So I’m wondering maybe my excessive amount of nightshades could have caused Cholinergic Urticaria?

Thanks,

John

Many people who are sensitive to nightshades don’t have Cholinergic Urticaria. It causes other issues for them. With this ailment, you have to experiment with your diet to see what the culprit is. For my son, it is sugar. Even fruit. For others it seems to be dairy. I would highly recommend getting the book that’s available on this site. It is very helpful. Prayers for you as you work thru this. It’s not an easy thing, but most people do learn coping mechanisms til they can get to the root of the problem.

For my daughter who got CU in 10th grade, it was the nightshade foods that exacerbated it. As a freshman in college now, she is doing much better after eliminating those foods.
