Hello all,
As I started to train for a half marathon this summer, I noticed myself getting very flush and what I believed to be heat rash as my runs got longer. I went to doctor and she said it was likely environmental, change soaps, detergents, etc. And that I should be able to continue training. 2 weeks later, with the flushing now breaking into hives after my runs, I went back and they put me on prednisone and I stopped exercising for 1 week.
While I had no flare ups during my break, I continued to have a base flushing on my chest, stomach, forearms and backs often. Most of the day it feels like I have a mild sunburn as I wear clothes.
I was wondering if this is common with cholinergic urticaria? Does anyone else have a base level of skin sensitivity in between flare ups? If so, any recommendations?
I started exercising again, opting to run while dark out and shower in cold water immediately. This tempers the flare up, but the ongoing skin sensitivity/sun burn feel persists. It’s worst in the morning or when I am lying on couch – so friction may be an issue.
Thanks, sorry for the ramble fest. It’s been about 2 months and I couldn’t even get a Derm appointment for a couple more weeks.

I have the flushing and sesitive skin as you described. I saw a dermatologist last week. I take two Allegra in the morning and it has helped the itching. I still have the sensitive skin even after changing all my products. I keep reading the post hoping for a good solution.

Thanks Norma,
It seems like Claritin calms the itching down for me as well… Topical creams tend to cause more itching and flushing for me.
While the flare ups stink, it’s the on going mild sunburn feeling that is driving me most crazy. I went for a swim in the ocean the other day and it seemed to help quite a bit.
