A similar cholinergic urticaria story from myself

October 30, 2017 by Forum Member

I have had cholinergic urticaria since I was 14. I only had realized one day walking home from school that my skin started to itch and sting. I checked my torso and realized my skin had started to turn red, and it wouldn’t stop.

I thought it might have been the woolen jersey I was wearing on a hot summers day, as it could have been a allergy of some sort. But I’ve been to the doctor many times about it, and all I got prescribed was some chemical free soap and antihistamine tablets.

I have recently stopped taking the antihistamine, as I saw nothing happening except for the first day of use, which made the stinging go away for that one day. It remains with me as to this day. I still soak up the summer sun and try to sweat out all the pain in agony it puts me through. I try to forget it’s there sometimes. It’s hard to, but I try my best to forget.

So, that is my story.

Thank you for reading,

Hayden

I also have solar urticaria. I too thought it was an alergy to fabric, lotion, detergent etc.
But soon I realized it was from the heat and it would travel through my clothes, through windows etc and when my body reaches a certain temperature, I get the horrible welts and hives. They itch and burn till my skin cools down then the disappear.
I live in AZ with constant sun so it’s a daily battle. I also get it on my hands if I am washing dishes in warm water, or holding a warm coffee mug. I recently got it in the bottom of my feet while standing barefoot on a warm patio. I just try and avoid anything in the sun if possible … and use benedryl cooling spray if I can after a flare up.
Good luck to you and I hope it goes into remission for you.

I had chronic urticaria since last April and couldn’t do anything due to the itchiness if I ever stop taking the antihistamines(xyzal). I didn’t get any help from the many specialists i consulted. But yesterday as I was talking to my family doctor we came across my itch condition again and she suggested vitamin c shot helps to boost immune system. Ad there were no side effects and I’m desperate for a cure, I took the shot. It was injected right into my vein and no pain at all. I was supposed to have a breakout every 48 hours after taking antihistamines, but after the shot yesterday, today’s breakout was delayed by 6 hours(!) which was great!! And the breakout wad less severe. I read about vit b from other people in here so I might talk to my Dr about vit b shot when I go to see her again next week. Now I can see some hope!!
