I was just wondering if people have travelled or had a holiday when suffering from Cholinergic Urticaria, and whether it was worse during the holiday (perhaps to a hot country or in the summer) or whether it seemed to disappear/ease during your vacation/holiday?
Thanks,
Lauren

I just got back from Florida, and what I did is took two zertec everymorning. It didn’t eliminate the rash but it did calm the itching somewhat and made it bareable. But I did nothing but lay on the beach.

Hello Lauren,
Great question! I hope others will chime in with their experiences. However, I can tell you that the answer to this question is that many people experience a difference, and some have mentioned this on this forum in the past years. Sometimes they’ve reported that their hives improved or were not even noticeable while on vacation/holiday, whereas others reported that there was no difference (or that they even became slightly worse).
There are a lot of variables at play (weather, humidity, barometric pressure, local water quality, etc.) that could impact cholinergic urticaria symptoms.

I’m going to travel and I’m worried about my hives. I live in Florida and it’s challenging I usually only go out in the evenings or early mornings. You can buy special Vests keep you cool. you can also buy personal mini fan that you can use help keep you cool. I always carry around a bottle of water that I can quickly splash of myself if I start getting hives. When the weather radically changes watch out and expect hives and plan ahead. Arid dry weather is a coke for me and I try not to go dry places especially when its hot. I’ve had these type of hot cronica de Cartier for 3 years now. I take about 10 or 12 antihistamines a day and it helps. I also take gabapentin right before my hives break out or right before I have to be with a lot of people and it definitely helps. Never give in or give up I hope it helps 🙂

Hi, im new to the forum. So happy i’ve found it. This question is perfect for me!
I suffered from short spells of hives as a child- they were always a reaction to a food/medicine.
They came back 4 months ago and my first outbreak came after i had started running a lot further at the gym, i had a lot of fake tan on and a tight gym top and i am sure this as blocked something which caused my first reaction. They are driving me insane and have gotten progressively worse- some days my feet and face swell so much i cant go to work. I’ve been on 2 courses of oral steriods which give me around only 1 day of being truely hives free, the rest are on and off for around 5 days and then they seem to come back just as bad. Ive been taking cetritirizine for almost 4 months and i think now they have no affect- fexofenidine prescribed by the doctor and various other over the counter antihistamines are much worse and do nothing. I am currently under quite a lot of stress with exams and work, i am hoping that when this is completed ill see an improvement. I did quit the gym for two months but i have noticed my hives have gotten worse, so as of two days ago i went back, to ‘sweat it out’ (as ive read). The first night i felt i saw an improvement, the second i didnt work as hard and maybe didnt sweat as much as i should as i now feel worse as a result and have many many more hives.
Ive done many things in terms of allergies- new powder, bedding, stayed away from cats, cut out certain foods. When i first broke out i had began taking Whey Powder protein shake to help with my gym progression, after cutting this out for 6 weeks i still have hives. I tried it the other day and it make my hives worse- so i have been dairy free (to avoid the whey protein) for 5 days now and so far cannot see any improvement. I will continue but my next step is to try egg free or wheat free. I am also curious that my car has a leak and the passenger side is extremely damp? I do wonder.(and i am willing to believe anything)
I have booked a holiday to Jamaica, the excitement has completely gone from me since hives have returned into my life. Im so worried that the heat will ruin the trip. I have a specialist app at the end of the month all i can do is hope they can help me! any tips / stories of past experiences would be massively appreciated however
Many thanks

Cooling vests may help. Im trying them out for the first time maybe the vests will help. If all else fails just go out in the morning and evenings you will be fine, enjoy)
