I have had cholinergic urticaria for 6+ years now, and even though it’s usually tolerable during the winter, during the summer it becomes torture for me. I get constant breakouts every single hour of the day (sometimes while I’m sleeping too), which basically is altering almost every part of the day. As soon as I heat up in any way I get hives. I’ve been looking for ways to get rid of this or minimize it at the very least since taking antihistamines don’t work at all for me.
I stumbled upon sweat therapy, and I want to try it but I’m not sure if it will make it better or worse. The only noticeable symptoms for me when I get a reaction besides the hives and intense itching is slight light headedness. I also do notice that I almost never sweat even if it’s baking outside so that may be the cause of it. Also, my doctor recommended it, but also he warned me to be careful while doing it, which is a bit unsettling.
What should I do?

Hello, Josin.
Sweat therapy isn’t safe for everyone, but it does work for some people with cholinergic urticaria. The biggest risk would be that you’d either pass out or go into anaphylactic shock (and potentially die or be rushed to the ER). Though rare, those anaphylactic reactions have happened in people with cholinergic urticaria. And depending on the severity of your hives, you might have to endure intense itching during the process.
If your doctor says it’s okay to try, I’d recommend being very cautious. It would be a good idea to have some people with you in the event that you have a severe reaction, and it would also be a good idea to have an Epi-Pen on hand.

Sweat therapy did it for me, I started two weeks ago, I do 10 minutes every other day, and now I am sweating normally, and have not broken out since

I was considering sweat therapy, so me and a friend worked out together. I got a good sweat on and afterwords I had a minor breakout of hives, but I had an unbearable burning sensation on one arm. It looked like a rash about the size of a dollar bill. Now ever since then my skin feels like it burns everywhere. Has anyone else experienced this?
